The domination of Spain on the FIBA ranking will have lasted less than a year, ten months to be precise. Then winners of the Eurobasket, the Spaniards had overtaken the Americans in November 2022, but the World Cup changed the lines.
The 2019 world champions lost their title by missing qualification for the quarterfinals when Team USA reached the semifinals. Result: the United States regains first place in a ranking, based on the results of the last eight years.
Obviously, the results of the World Cup, good and bad, are felt. France lost five places and found itself in 9th position when Slovenia, also disappointing, lost four places and was now in 11th place.
On the other hand, Germany took advantage of its coronation to climb onto the podium, gaining eight places. The same goes for Canada which, with its bronze medal, moves from 15th to 6th place. Latvia is even stronger with 22 more places! South Sudan, another great story from the competition, is 31st, after having gained no less than 32 places!
