The Sixers are testing several “free agents”

Daryl Morey is going to have his work cut out for him this summer! Certainly, the president of the Sixers no longer has the James Harden soap opera to manage, but his workforce is stripped down since only Joel Embiid and Nick Nurse as coach are sure to be back. The first priority will be to extend Tyrese Maxey and this will only be a formality.

“We are not going to bet on continuity”, recognized Daryl Morey during end-of-season interview. “We will have continuity with our stars and our coach, but we will make a lot of changes. We're focused on Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, and we're focused on the present.”

While it is rumored that Daryl Morey would target a superstar like Paul George, Brandon Ingram or even LeBron James, we also have to think about the end of the bench. For this, the Sixers organized a “workout” with former NBA players. Among them, Sam Dekker, the former Rockets and Clippers player. The winger has been playing in the British Basketball League since August 2022 and he was even elected MVP of the British league last season.

What old acquaintances…

The Sixers have also invited other former NBA players, now in the G-League, like Tony Bradley who was in Chicago last year. The pivot already passed through Philadelphia during the 2020/21 season.

Jarrett Culver, the former sixth choice of the 2019 Draft, selected by the Wolves was present at the “workout”. The fullback/winger never really found his place in the league and his last stint took the form of a “two-way contract” with the Hawks last season.

Finally, Stanley Johnson, who has 449 games in the NBA, was also one of the players present for the Sixers' tryouts. The winger knows Nick Nurse well since he played in Toronto from 2019 to 2021.
