Reinvigorated, Charlotte showed up for the recovery by outclassing Toronto in a one-sided game. The Raptors took the water from the start by conceding a 14-2 and never saw the light of day again. The entries of the Martin-Oubre-Harell trio kept Toronto at bay after 12 minutes (28-19) and the Hornets drove the point home in stride.
By LaMelo Ball, author of a remarkable passage to the finish and the pass then thanks to the external missiles of the Rozier-Washington pair in order to create an already substantial gap (50-30). JT Thor and Miles Bridges added a touch of showtime to a match that already seemed folded at the break (70-47).
The locals continued their demonstration after returning from the locker room by holding the Raptors to 14 points in the third quarter. Mason Plumlee martyred the circle in turn with a dunk and an alley-oop, then imitated by JT Thor, Cody Martin and Kelly Oubre, whose dunk offered the biggest gap of the match to his team, at +41 (95 -54).
After 12 minutes of a fourth quarter without a stake, Charlotte won 123-95, enough to start her end of the season with high morale.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– A one-sided game. Toronto never managed to reverse the trend in the first three quarters, after starting their match at 1/10 in shooting and with a Pascal Siakam who played sick. Charlotte knew how to use the diversity of her weapons and her collective to maintain the pressure relentlessly. On arrival, the note is very salty with the bar of 40 points of difference crossed at the end of the third quarter, giving a reference match for the Hornets and a match to quickly forget for the Raptors.
– The impact of the Hornets bench. Alongside Kelly Oubre Jr, capable of catching fire in short sequences, James Borrego now has another asset of choice coming off the bench with Montrezl Harrell. The two provided valuable scoring stints with 23 and 20 points while Harrell also helped the Hornets dominate the rebound with his 10 catches.
TOPS/FLOPS
✅ terry rozier. On alternating current since the start of the season, the back was having a good evening, playing his game without forcing, scoring with his 23 points at 10/16 in shooting, or bringing the team together with his 9 assists. His +/- is clear as to his contribution to this match: +46!
✅ Scottie Barnes. The rookie was not fooled by the turn of events, delivering a full game under the sign of efficiency, 28 points (13/18 shooting) and 5 rebounds in 32 minutes. A good recovery match in order to properly approach an important end of the season for him too
⛔ The VanVleet-Siakam duo. An evening without for Toronto and for its duo of leaders who lived a nightmarish match in attack, at 3/12 shooting for the first, 3/13 for the second, who however had the excuse of having played sick. We’ll erase everything and start again !
