The Pistons thrive in hostile environments

With 14 wins in 20 games, the Rockets had one of the best home records in the league before this meeting. The Pistons did not suffer from any complex in the Texan den, however, to win there without contest (96-107).

While they remained on two losses in a row, at home (Pacers and Suns), the visitors attacked from the start, scoring 40 points in the first 12 minutes. Everything had to be done again at the break, but in the third quarter, a huge Cade Cunningham took things in hand: 17 points of his team's 33 points.

Close to a triple-double (32 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists), but still very expensive with the ball in hand (10 turnovers), the Pistons leader set an example on the floor of the No. 2 in the West to sign a prestigious success that had to be sought out.

“(The Rockets) represent the elite in extra effort, and if you don't exceed their effort, you don't stand a chance. The way (his Pistons) competed, matched their effort… They did a great job converting energy from trailing balls, from defense, from offensive fouls “, lists JB Bickerstaff.

The latter was particularly impressed by the defensive efforts produced by his team, particularly in the second half: only 39 points conceded.

It's elite when it comes to defense. Once again, hats off to our guys, they did a hell of a job tonight », congratulates the coach, whose training for example limited Alperen Sengun to 11 points (5/14 on shots).

A typical blue-collar victory in short. “ We like this 'grit and grind' side. We like it when fans talk bad to us, when the odds are against us. We have to do better at home – the coach told us that about two weeks ago. He told us that we were very good away, but that we have to perform at home. We are better, but we must continue to win away », aims Malik Beasley.

The Pistons, who have a positive record of 12 wins for 10 losses away from home, have only lost once away since mid-December, in Denver. And have had a string of victories on the floor of the Suns, Lakers, Kings, Nets and even Knicks. A beautiful hunting painting.

Oddly enough, our players thrive outside. Whatever environment they operate in, it highlights how tight-knit this group is. They like to play in difficult environments. They like to be in a situation where it's 'Detroit against everyone.' When we do, we seem to be at our best. », JB Bickerstaff can rub his hands.

Detroit will continue its travel series Wednesday in Atlanta, before traveling to Orlando, Cleveland and Indiana.
