And according to Shams Charaniathe first targeted player would be Scooter Hendersonpromised in second or third place in the Draft behind Victor Wembanyama and in balance with Brandon Miller.
His place in the Draft ultimately remains undecided as Charlotte and Portland, who own the second and third picks respectively, already own LaMelo Ball and Damian Lillard as playmakers.

The Pelicans have therefore taken it into their heads to try to recover it and would be ready to put the package to achieve it. Beyond their 14th choice on this 2023 Draft, they also have a bunch of other first rounds to give up (three in 2024, two in 2025) and could add one or more players depending on the needs of the target team.
It remains to be seen who the franchise would be willing to use, with Larry Nance Jr. and Jonas Valanciunas being possible options, unless New Orleans is outright considering turning the page on Zion Williamson, who is increasingly annoying in Louisiana despite its potential. Brandon Ingram seems rather sheltered.
