The Pacers prepare for life without Tyrese Haliburton

Ja Morant wasn't the only injured person of the night. On the side of Indianapolis, another All-Star, Tyrese Haliburton, was seriously injured, even if we should still see him again this season. We will have to wait for the results of the MRI to know the seriousness of his injury, and his unavailability. But seeing him grimace after his splits, it's difficult to be optimistic.

“It was a very depressing moment,” recognizes Rick Carlislethe Pacers coach. “But it was an important match, and each match we play is possibly decisive for the rest of the season.”

A richer workforce than in 2023

Despite the injury of their leader, the Pacers managed to snatch victory against the Celtics, the leaders of the NBA. But… you also have to remember that a year ago, Haliburton missed 10 games, and the Pacers only won one game without him.

“We gained an extra year of experience. We have gained depth,” tries to reassure himself Rick Carlisle. “We saw it in the second half. We are a close-knit group. We must stay united. We showed great collective determination in each match. »

Mathurin ready to take over

Same feeling among the players. “I think we are in a better state of mind than last year” assures Aaron Nesmith. “As we have a richer squad, the next player is ready to take over. I think everything will be fine. »

Author of the two free throws for the win, Bennedict Mathurin is ready to take over. “We lost our best player, and it’s my job to raise my level of play,” he warns.
