It is known: you do not change a winning team. Fortunately for the Nuggets, the holders are still under contract and the 2023 champions will keep their hard core to try for the double next season.
On the bench, however, it’s not the same story. Bruce Brown is a “free agent”, just like Jeff Green and DeAndre Jordan, but also Ish Smith, Reggie Jackson and Thomas Bryant.
“We hope to bring the group back, so we hope to retain a good number of these players”announces Calvin Booth, GM of the Nuggets, at the Denver Post.
For the Bruce Brown file, Denver, given its finances, will not be able to offer more than 7.8 million dollars next year. What the leaders will do before, in 2024, to offer a big contract for the former Brooklyn.
“Bruce is our biggest fish”, recognizes Calvin Booth. “He has millions of options and I can’t wait to see what happens. I hope he comes back in the Nuggets jersey. »
And for the others? Including Jeff Green and DeAndre Jordan. “I’m more confident in Jordan, I think he’s happy here,” comments the GM. “Jeff, he played a lot in the playoffs, maybe he has a few options in front of him. I’ll have to check it out with his agent. »
