The Nets don’t overlook James Harden…

Joel Embiid takes center stage so much, you almost forget he’s teamed up with James Harden, a former MVP, himself the NBA’s top passer. In Philly, no “Big Three” but an exceptional “One-Two Punch”. This is also the first duo to finish top scorer and best passer in the NBA since George Gervin and Johnny Moore in 1982. That’s why Brooklyn does not focus on Joel Embiid.

“Oh yeah, we’re also focusing on Harden. He’s an MVP too. We’re talking about Embiid as MVP this year, but we haven’t put Harden aside” warns Spencer Dinwiddie. “He’s a guy who can score 60 points. He’s a guy who can sign 20 assists. He’s a guy who can get 25 free throws. He can completely change the course of a match, and at any time. We don’t take this lightly. »

In Brooklyn, and even if the group has evolved a lot, we obviously know James Harden very well. “There are certain things he is currently doing that he was already doing with us” recalls Jacques Vaughn. “If it can help us defend or attack, we will try to take advantage of it. »

Nic Claxton, key player in the series?

Since leaving the Nets for the Sixers, James Harden has faced his former team three times to average 21 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Among his former teammates, Nic Claxton is one of the few still at the Nets.

“He will find solutions… He will find his spots” believes the young interior. “He’s strong this year, but you have to get him away from the free-throw line and know his habits. It will be a collective effort to curb it. »

For Nic Claxton, it will be a question of helping, but not too much since he will have to keep an eye on Joel Embiid. While he considers himself one of the best defenders in the NBA, the pivot probably has the key to the series because he will have to stop Joel Embiid but also help on James Harden.
