The Nets continue their internal reorganization

While waiting for an offseason which promises to be challenging on the personnel side, the Nets are evolving on the management side. Several American media, including The Postreport that franchise GM Sean Marks has just hired Justin Bokmeyer as the new director of basketball operations.

The new arrival, who has experience in development programs for the NBA and MLS, replaces Ryan Gisriel, who left for Charlotte. This one was named vice president of the Hornetsfollowing Jeff Peterson, the former right-hand man of Sean Marks who became president of the Charlotte club.

A graduate of West Point and having spent 11 years on active duty in the army, notably in Iraq, Justin Bokmeyer has a varied background, like Nets coach Jordi Fernandez, born in Spain. He worked in international basketball operations for the NBA.

From 2018 to 2022, he helped guide the NBA Academy program and played a key role in the creation and launch of the Basketball Africa League. In August 2022, he was named the first general manager of MLS NEXT, the soccer league's development program. Now he is back in the basketball world.

More internal moves expected to come as the Nets are poised to lose Matt Tellem, recently named vice president of strategy, leaving for the Suns.

Brooklyn will then have to look at its squad to aim for something other than the modest 11th place obtained this season. The leaders will have to decide in particular on the future of their titular pivot, Nic Claxton.
