The NBA forces the Celtics into a first in their history

To distinguish the matches of its tournament, the NBA asked the thirty franchises to change the design of their floor, with very strict specifications: the presence of the trophy, the NBA Cup, and three colored stripes along the length of the field , with side corridors in the colors of the City Edition jersey.

These modifications are not made without hiccups. Players complained about the surface being too slippery, while in Denver, the 3-point line was poorly drawn. Friday evening, in Dallas, the floor was dismantled because it did not meet the standards required by the NBA with trophy stickers in each corner.

Since their arrival in the NBA, the franchise has played on a parquet-style court

On the Boston side, the NBA has completely rebutted the first design proposed by the leaders. For the center lane, which must be a solid color, the Celtics wanted to add a parquet pattern, similar to the one they usually play on.

You should know that this “parquet” aspect has accompanied the Celtics since their entry into the NBA, and that they played for 53 years on the same floor, from 1946 to 1999, even when they changed venues. Because the boards were worn, they changed the parquet, but the patterns are always the same, and for 77 years, the Celtics have played on identical terrain. This is why the managers wanted the central strip to display a “parquet” pattern, even if it was painted.

The NBA refused, and last night, against the Nets, was the first time that the Celtics did not play on a court with a “parquet” pattern. Which did not prevent them from imposing themselves, even if visually, we clearly did not have the impression of being in Boston.
