The Athletic had already leaked the information ten days ago. The NBA confirmed it on Thursday: All-Star Game 2027 will be held at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Other clubs like the Celtics, the Bucks or the Magic were also in the running, but the league chose Phoenix. This will be the fourth time that an All-Star Game has been held there, after 1975, 1995 and 2009.
It is also a small boost given to the franchise purchased a little over a year ago by Matt Ishbia has Robert Sarver, for an amount of approximately 4 billion dollars. Adam Silver also expressed his enthusiasm at the idea of working on this project with Mat Ishbia and his team, via a press release.
“Phoenix is one of the best basketball cities in the country”for his part declared Mat Ishbia. “We can’t wait to see everyone come out, make this city the hub of the weekend and hopefully make it the most memorable All-Star Weekend ever.”
It will indeed be an opportunity for the city and the Suns franchise to shine a light on their organization for a weekend, beyond the numerous financial benefits generated.
“It’s incredibly competitive, every city wants it,” Suns and Mercury general manager Josh Bartelstein said. “So we’re honored to have him.” The work really begins now.”
This year, the NBA will have an overview of the organizational qualities of the new management since the WNBA All-Star Game will take place in Phoenix.
