The MVP of the night | Pascal Siakam takes the wheel

Arrived on January 17 at the Pacers, Pascal Siakam will have waited eight days to achieve his first victory under his new colors. In front of his audience, the Cameroonian put on form as he scored a triple-double against the Sixers of his compatriot Joel Embiid.

With 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, the power forward signed his first triple-double in 15 months, and his 6th in his career. “Siakam was obviously incredible. This is his 6th career triple-double, the first obviously with us. When your power forward signs a triple-double, it’s always very special.”

On percussion and creation, Pascal Siakam stood out from the start on playing in isolation or playing quickly. The Sixers didn't have the legs to contain him, and he even allowed himself to eliminate his compatriot Joel Embiid near the circle. A performance which obviously does not surprise Nick Nurse, his former coach in Toronto.

Nick Nurse is not surprised

“He was good, even very good. He got going very early and when he does, he usually plays very well.” recalls the Sixers coach. “We slowed him down a little late with two-man shots, but there was no one on the rotations, and that's why he had so many assists.”

For Pascal Siakam, this performance has no secrets. Since the Pacers returned to Indianapolis, he has been able to train normally with his new teammates, and he has been able to work on his automatisms.

“I’m much more comfortable,” he concludes. “The practice the day before really helped me get familiar with some of the things we do. I learn quickly, I learn visually and I'm a sponge. The more I do these things, the more I understand them.”
