There are players who flee the lights of the fourth quarter, and others who sublimate them. This is the case of Jamal Murray, who has just signed in Game 2 of the conference final against the Lakers a new fourth quarter with more than 20 points. It’s already his fourth in his career, whereas over the past 30 years, only Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson have done it more than once. But the two legends had stopped at two…
But how to explain this ability to explode at the end of the match, when he was 14 points at 5/17 shooting after three quarters, to register 23 points at 6/7 shooting in the final quarter?
“I just focused” explains Jamal Murray, tired after playing the entire second half, and while he was sick in recent days. “I missed some really good shots in the first half. My team told me to keep shooting, I had the shots I wanted and we knew they were going to fall in. The positive is that I did not stop. The team continued to serve me and I was able to take those shots at the end”.
In a press conference, the Canadian gave a little detail about his incandescent ability at the end of the match, he who took over the famous “Bang! by Mike Breenthe ABC commentator, in the middle of the game!
“When I was little, I used to countdown the clock to put on shots” continues Jamal Murray. “I spoke like Marv Albert or Mike Breen, I let my imagination run wild. So when you’re in those moments, seeing his family in the stands, seeing his little brother, seeing Mike Breen, those are reminders that make that moment really special and force you to refocus. Because you don’t want to miss this opportunity. You think about it, how much fun it was and you don’t want to miss out on that stage, because playing the conference finals against the Lakers and LeBron James is an incredible opportunity. You will go down in history and we will talk about you for the rest of your life. »
We will indeed long remember Jamal Murray’s hot shots in the fourth quarter, especially if they allow the Nuggets, now 2-0 in this conference final, to clinch the title.
