The Mavericks quickly imposed their style on this meeting, helped by the clumsiness and waste of the Pelicans. A little show from Kyrie Irving took control after the first quarter (27-34). In the second quarter, the playmaker is joined by Luka Doncic.
The two men hit behind the arc and gave Dallas more than fifteen points in advance. The Mavericks have control of the game at the break (54-67) and it is not a good passage from Jonas Valanciunas in the third quarter which can change the situation. The Pelicans lose too many balls to exist.
Luka Doncic scored 15 points and delivered 5 assists in this third act, once again controlled by his team and the match was over after 36 minutes (85-109). The last quarter only served to reduce the gap for Willie Green’s troops, almost flattering at the end as the Mavericks dominated (124–136). Second success in a row for the Texans, fifth defeat in a row for the Pelicans.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– Too easy for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The two stars had no difficulty shining. The Slovenian finished with 30 points at 11/18 shooting and 9 assists, while the 2016 champion compiled 35 points at 13/20 with 7 assists. Above all, they only lost three balls in total and shot 11/19 at 3-points.
– Too much waste for the Pelicans. The symbol of this match for New Orleans is Zion Williamson, still a little lost at the start of the season. He certainly scored 18 points, but lost six balls, including three in the first quarter alone. Which already set the tone. The New Orleans players wasted too many possessions (18) and the Mavericks scored 30 points on the counterattack.
