Having gone from 22 wins to 47 successes in three seasons, the Magic returned to the playoffs last spring, with a first round against the Cavaliers. Now, the hardest part begins: confirming, or even doing better, during the 2024/25 season.
This will include an even more serious approach to the regular season. The playoffs have shown this clearly: Cleveland and Orlando won every home game in their series and it was the Cavaliers who had home-field advantage in Game 7. For one more win in the season: 48 to 47…
“We now know how important each match is”insists Jamahl Mosley for the NBA website. “That's the difference between a Game 7 at home or away. That has to be our priority before every game. A game in January can influence what happens at the end of the season. The players are more aware of that now.”
Taking inspiration from the Heat's consistency
Last season, the Magic lost at least three games in a row five times. They will have to become more consistent so that this spring of 2024 is not just a nice exception in the journey of the Florida franchise. Its neighbor in Miami has been a great example of consistency for fifteen years now.
“There is always competition even if you have to focus on your own team,” responds the Orlando coach on this rivalry. “Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley have done a remarkable job with this team. There's a culture. They've built that over the years. They've been there, in the Finals or the conference finals, almost every year. We can take inspiration from that, from that consistency.”
And Jamahl Mosley concludes: “That's what we talk about with the players. Having that consistency, continuing to move forward. It's just about focusing on us, on what we need to do.”
