The Lakers end four years of defeats against the Sixers!

Seven. Like the number of consecutive defeats for the Lakers against the Sixers! A series which ended last night as LeBron James' teammates won 101-94 at home against Nick Nurse's men.

A complicated success since the Sixers were still leading at the start of the 4th quarter. Nothing great from Nicolas Batum's partners (0 points in 20 minutes) but the Lakers played small for a good 40 minutes with a festival of lost balls and great disorganization in attack and defense.

Result: Tyrese Maxey makes the difference against D'Angelo Russell, and Mo Bamba remembers the good memories of the Crypto.com Arena with a 3-pointer (66-59) then a two-handed dunk after a superb service from Kelly Oubre Jr. And then Anthony Davis (23 points, 19 rebounds) will put on his “superman” costume, and we will only see him.

Straddling the quarters, the Lakers signed a 6-0 to take control (79-76), and they would never again be behind! LeBron James goes to challenge Mo Bamba to score with a foul, and this aggression is contagious.

Austin Reaves and Davis break the Sixers' lock, and the exploits of Tyrese Maxey are no longer enough. The Lakers scored another 6-0 at the start of money time to take a nine-point lead (96-87). Mo Bamba's new prize-winning basket was not enough, and the Lakers finally won 101-94 to display the same record as the Sixers: 38 victories for 32 defeats.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– Philly, the Lakers’ beast. The last time the Lakers beat the Sixers, a virus from China was starting to make headlines. It was March 3, 2020, a week before the NBA stopped its activity after a case of an infected player. Since then, the Lakers have lost seven times in a row against Joel Embiid's partners. Precisely, last night, he was not there, and they took advantage of it by winning the rebound battle (54 shots to 42) and scoring 38 baskets in the paint.

– Franchise record for D’Angelo Russell. Like Evan Fournier at the Knicks, who erased an old John Starks record from the shelves, D'Angelo Russell made Lakers history by winning the record for 3-point baskets in a season. The former All-Star point guard does better than Nick Van Exel, whose tally stopped at 183 successes in 1995.
