The Lakers begin interviews to find their future coach

Who will be the next coach of the Lakers ? Since Darvin Ham's ouster ten days ago, rumors have been rife and ESPN tells us that the Californian franchise will take the second step, starting its interviews this week in order to find a lucky candidate.

As is, Rob Pelinka, GM and vice-president of “Purple & Gold”, intends to concentrate on assistants already in position – for whom it will be necessary to submit an interview request in advance – and former “head coaches” who are now free but who he doesn't know it well enough. On the other hand, the final choice will be hard work.

Seven candidates on the ballot

Among the first names mentioned to take over from Darvin Ham, we find in any case James Borrego (Pelicans assistant) but also Chris Quinn (Heat assistant), and above all JJ Redick (analyst for ESPN).

Three candidates we could see competing with Kenny Atkinson (Warriors and France assistant), Micah Nori (Wolves assistant), Sean Sweeney (Mavericks assistant) and David Adelman (Nuggets assistant), as recently reported by The Athletic.

The trails leading to Mike Budenholzer and Jason Kidd have been short-circuited since their respective signing and re-signing in Phoenix and Dallas. The same can undoubtedly be said of the one leading to Tyronn Lue, about to be extended by the Clippers.
