In “back-to-back”, the Bucks wanted to continue with the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Except that the New York franchise also had to win after its two defeats in a row and, in the end, it was the players of new York who took over those of Milwaukee (116-94), in the wake of a Karl-Anthony Towns untenable (32 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists).
Well launched by a “KAT” of big nights, skillful at 3-points and imposing in the paint, the Knicks quickly put the Bucks under water by taking a ten then twenty points lead. If, inside, Giannis Antetokounmpo tried in vain to delay the deadline, as much as Damian Lillard on the free throw line, nothing could calm the ardor of Karl-Anthony Towns and his family (66-47) .
After the break, and thanks to well-aimed 3-point baskets from Mikal Bridges, New York could then afford to manage its lead smoothly, despite the work of Giannis Antetokounmpo near the circle. With six players at 10 points or more, the New York collective was far too stocked for Milwaukee, lacking ammunition behind the Antetokounmpo/Lillard duo (116-94).
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– New York knocks out Milwaukee in one half. If the gap rose to +30 in favor of the Knicks, never leading during this game, it was mainly in the first period that Tom Thibodeau's men made the difference. Without a solution against Karl-Anthony Towns, who took pleasure in unleashing Madison Square Garden with his dunks or his 3-pointers, the Bucks fell back into their mistakes after relaunching against the Jazz. Even if the “KAT” teammates, also in need of victory, did not make their task easy by attacking the match head-on…
– New York returns to balance, Milwaukee remains stuck. Now with a record of 4 wins and 4 losses, the Knicks go straight back to 3rd place in their conference, being one of only three teams in the East to have at least 50% wins. As for the Bucks, they are still stuck in the bottom of this same conference, with only 2 victories after 9 games and a level of play that ultimately remains unreassuring on each side of the floor…
