From the start of the match, the Blazers show their fangs on both sides of the field. The strong man at the start of the match is none other than the surprising Matisse Thybulle, author of 10 points at 4/4 in shooting including 2/2 at 3-points, which allows his team to take a 15-point lead ( 21-6). Portland leads 33-20 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Knicks react at the start of the 2nd quarter by returning to just 6 points from the Blazers (36-30). Despite a good resistance at first, Portland’s defense no longer holds, and what had to happen happens: New York is completely back in the game. At the break, the Blazers retain that six-point advantage, but the momentum changed sides (55-49).
Back from the locker room, New York continues its momentum, and returns to equality on a basket concluded with the fault of RJ Barrett (71-71). On a 3-point shot, Miles McBride even gives the advantage to the Knicks (78-76). Portland thwarts, and Immanuel Quickley gives his team an 8-point lead on a long distance basket (86-78). Tom Thibodeau’s men completely overturned the match in this 3rd quarter (42-26), to the point of taking a 10-point lead (91-81).
New York starts the last quarter with a 5-0 to go to +15 (96-81). On a 3-point basket, Obi Toppin drives the point home (104-86), and the Knicks win 123-107.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– The Knicks third quarter. Dominated in the first half by the Blazers, they not only woke up in the second half but also crushed their opponent especially during a 3rd quarter won 42-26! Twelve minutes of collective basketball lesson inflicted on Portland. Everyone bit into the apple, from Julius Randle to Miles McBride via Immanuel Quickley or Obi Toppin.
– Portland continues to sink. Missing after returning from the locker room, the Blazers once again exploded in midair. This is the 4th loss in a row for Damian Lillard and his family, and as a symbol, it was Josh Hart who scored the last basket for the Knicks. With the respective victories of the Lakers and the Thunder, the Blazers see a participation in the “play-in” moving away more and more…
– The Knicks paradox. Julius Randle’s teammates are the only team in the entire NBA to have a better away record (21v-14d) than at home (19v-16d).
TOPS/FLOPS
✅ The Randle-Barrett-Quickley trio. They were the backbone of the Knicks on this meeting by combining the three of them with 72 points and 25 rebounds!
✅Josh Hart. He had surely framed in red this date of return to Oregon, and it was seen. He puts in a complete performance with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals.
✅ Miles McBride. It’s the X factor of the evening. In less than 25 minutes, he scored 18 points at 6/8 shooting including 4/5 at 3-pointers!
✅ Damian Lillard. It’s complicated but he fights, far too alone. He finished with 38 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
⛔️ Cam Reddish. Unlike Josh Hart, he missed his reunion with the Knicks with just 2 points at 1/6 shooting in 19 minutes.
