Third victory in a row for the Knickswho although in “back-to-back” (victory at Madison Square Garden the day before against Detroit), easily got the better of the Raptors has Toronto (119-106).
Tom Thibodeau's men delivered a complete performance: a sharp attack (50% on shots including 44% on three-pointers), driven by the duo Jalen Brunson (22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists) – Julius Randle (20 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists) but also a productive bench (17 points and 8 rebounds for Josh Hart21 points with 7 award-winning shots for Donte DiVincenzo), and a defense, 4th in the league before this match (109.0 points conceded per match), which easily undermined the offensive phases of Toronto players (44% on shots).
Faced with such an alert defense, the efforts of Scottie Barnes (29 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals) and Pascal Siakam (21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists) were far too vain to worry New York, and the collective failure of the Raptors in attack was particularly illustrated behind the arc (6/32).
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– Josh Hart has finally found some rhythm. Not very happy with his use in attack lately, Josh Hart must be smiling after this Knicks victory. Because he was indeed one of the major architects, thanks to his volume of play coming off the bench: 17 points (7/11 on shots), 8 rebounds and 2 assists. On offensive rebound, finishing in transition but also behind the arc in “catch-and-shoot” (3/4 three-pointers), the former Villanova was on all fronts, and he greatly participated in build this convincing victory for the Knicks.
– 3-pointers, the X factor of the match. It's not easy for the Raptors to consider winning this game by scoring only 6 three-pointers (out of 32 attempted!)… Especially when, opposite, the Knicks scored 10 more, for only 4 additional attempts! Authors of a 16/36, the New York players in fact drowned the residents of the Scotiabank Arena with warheads behind the arc. On numerous occasions, the Knicks benefited from open positions since the Raptors spent the evening doubling Julius Randle in the low post, and the muscular power forward from New York took the opportunity to distribute the caviars (9 assists). More broadly, the “Thibs” gang delivered a very good offensive score, with 30 passes in 45 baskets, for 50% shooting success.
