The Kings lose Malik Monk until May…

After the package for the rest of the season Kevin Huerteraffected in the shoulder, the results of the MRI of Malik Monk, victim of a sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee, were particularly expected. The verdict fell on Saturday evening and as expected, it does not bode well for the rest of the season.

The Kings' luxury sixth man should indeed have some for four to six weeks care, with a reassessment of the medical staff after four weeks. To see it again, Sacramento, currently 8th, would have to manage to come out of a possible “play-in” alive and win at least its first series of playoffs. A scenario which is now a feat as Mike Brown finds himself deprived of his starting fullback and his 6th man.

As a reminder, Malik Monk had his best season in the NBA so far, with more than 15 points and 5 assists on average per game. Shortlisted for the trophy for best 6th man of the year, he was also in a record season for a player coming off the bench, since he is both the leader in points and assists (1,110 points and 370 assists decisive). A feat only achieved by Lou Williams in 2019.
