The Kings always strong with the strong and weak with the weak

They had come close to being penalized against Spurs. This time, the Kings did not avoid the ax. Against the Rockets, the Californians dominated the first period before cracking in the third quarter and finally losing.

Once again, Mike Brown's players show their limits against small teams when they are very solid and concentrated against the best teams in the league. With this setback, they miss the pass by three. In this final stretch before the playoffs, it can be expensive.

“We kept the ball too much. As soon as a second defender appears, you have to let go of the ball,” asks Mike Brown. “We have talented players, capable of scoring and making differences, but we have to have the discipline to tell ourselves that we have to pass. The player will not score or make the assist but it will trigger a domino effect. We talked about it, we trained for it. We already did it. But for five matches, it's not so good, it's obvious. We have to be better, especially against teams who protect their circle. »

The Kings are in seventh place in the Western Conference, just behind the Suns and just ahead of the Mavericks. To get a place in the Top 6 and thus avoid the “play-in”, we will have to take the small matches. There will notably be a sequence with Memphis, Toronto and Washington between March 18 and 21.

“We know we have to be better”says De’Aaron Fox. “We can talk about getting up to the level of the competition in front of us, we have to be more consistent, regardless of the team facing us. Afterwards, in the playoffs, we will play big teams, so we can see the positive side of things. »

Before these three very affordable matches, the Kings will have to face the Bucks, the Lakers and the Knicks this week. And there will also be two games in a row, very important for the playoffs, against the Mavericks in two weeks.
