The impatient Ingles

Within a group that hasn’t changed much, Joe Ingles will act as the “new kid”. At 36 years old, the Australian winger finds himself immersed in the heart of one of the youngest locker rooms in the league (only Detroit, Utah and San Antonio being younger on average) for a new adventure after a year spent at the Bucks.

If the training camp allowed him to get his bearings, Joe Ingles is nevertheless looking forward to being able to take part in the Magic’s four preseason matches in order to continue his integration into his new environment.

“With our group, I’ll probably just try to get used to the players, and also the way the coach is going to coach and the system as a whole,” did he slip yesterday. “I don’t think I’ve played with any of them except for the last two weeks. We always want to be able to get into the swing of things from an individual point of view. But for me, it will be more of a collective question.”

So far, the transplant has taken rather well, notably with its new coach Jamahl Mosley. And the good atmosphere reigns in the group, while waiting for the first match this evening against New Orleans.

It’s a very lively group, which is fun for me. This is a group of guys who play hard, play the right way and want to do the right thing. For us, it’s about building on what they did last year and moving on to more wins.”, he added.

Monitor lost bullets

As a perfect “fluidizer” for the offensive play of the different teams he has been with, Joe Ingles will have to help reduce the number of “turnovers” conceded by the Magic, its big weak point last season with 15.1 lost balls per match on average . And 18.2 points conceded (6th) in these situations.

This will also be the main objective set by Coach Mosley for his team’s first outings.

That’s the only thing we’re going to look at. It’s about making sure players find rhythm and continuity with each other. All of these things that we observed in our training, we can now implement against an opponent. We get what we can out of it. It’s a great way for us to measure where we are.”

Jamahl Mosley knows in particular that his players will have to be ready to face a start to the regular season which promises to be particularly tough, with a four-game “road trip” to the West which will arrive very quickly and will end in Utah, in the Joe Ingles’ old lair, on November 2.
