In quick succession, in less than 48 hours, the Hornets have just hired two of the best assistants in the league to take the reins of their young squad. After hiring Charles Lee, who was Joe Mazzulla's right-hand man at the Celtics, ESPN announces that the executives have decided to hire Lamar Skeeter to be his “first assistant”. The two will have the mission to do better than Steve Clifford, and above all to bring the Hornets back to the playoffs. Which hasn't happened to them since 2016.
The latter had been part of the Jazz staff since 2014, and after taking care of training under Quin Snyder, he rose to become Will Hardy's right-hand man. Before that, he was an assistant to Mike Budenholzer with the Hawks, and to Alex Jensen with the Canton Charge in the G-League.
At Utah, his departure will force Hardy to reorganize his staff, and the young coach does not lack resources with Chad Forcier, Rick Higgins, Scott Morrison, and Mike Williams on the bench, but also Evan Bradds, Jason Terry, Chris Jones, Sean Sheldon, Andrew Warren, Matthew Temple, George Rodman, Anthony Beaumont, and Becca Ward on staff.
