It’s hard to guess which direction Toronto will take. Will the leaders rely on the current group, and do everything to extend Fred VanVleet, or will they change everything from floor to ceiling? Many teams call them to inquire about the availability of Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby.
Mark Stein gives the example of the Hawks who called to find out about Pascal Siakam. But the Hawks’ offers weren’t very attractive. We imagine that Atlanta continues to offer a “package” around John Collins or DeAndre Hunter, and that does not interest many people.
The proof with the Mavericks. Stein reports the Hawks offered them Collins and the 15th draft pick, in exchange for Davis Bertans and the 10th pick. The Mavericks preferred Clint Capela, and the Hawks then demanded that Josh Green be included in the trade.
The Hawks also offered a “package” consisting of DeAndre Hunter and the 15th choice of the Draft to the Pistons and the Pacers, to recover the 5th or 7th choice of the Draft.
