The Hawks unfold against the Wizards

After defeating Dallas and Chicago, the Hawks, although deprived of De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, ensured to sign their 41st success of the season at the reception of the Wizards this night, all without neglecting the spectacle !

Atlanta started strong by attacking with a 6/8 from 3-pointers, insufficient however to falter Washington, led by the Nunn-Huff pair. Jalen Johnson then ended the first act with two crazy actions, an alley-oop served by Trae Young and a furious dunk in transition (33-32).

Trae Young put his people on the right track for good by multiplying the good sequences, passing or finishing, until Clint Capela in turn distinguished himself on a tap, an alley-oop then a dunk to put his own in the lead (51-49).

This time, Washington will not recover. Dejounte Murray and John Collins went there with their brilliance before the break (67-60),

The 6-2 to start the second half set the tone, then John Collins’ show shot, between his two 3-point missiles and his “reverse dunk” practically put an end to the suspense (85-71) . The strong reaction of Daniel Gafford barely delayed the deadline, while Dejounte Murray, Trae Young and AJ Griffin did what was necessary in stride to place the Hawks at +16 with ten minutes remaining (106-90 ).

The gap was enough to roll to the finish, this time with the Holiday-Griffin-Bey trio to power the score from afar, Saddiq Bey and Tyrese Martin ending the show with a final dunk to seal the victory for Atlanta , 134-116.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– Atlanta in play-in. It’s now official, the Hawks have validated their place for the play-in with this third success in a row. For the first time, Atlanta will therefore have to go through the ordeal that everyone dreads in order to see the playoffs. The 7th place which would allow the Hawks to receive the first then possibly the second game is still accessible, but beware of Toronto behind who has not yet said his last word!

– Freewheeling Wizards. Difficult to compete when six important players are missing. To make matters worse, Washington watered from afar (6/28) where Atlanta was rather effective (13/30). The Hawks also led the rebound fight with 48 catches to DC’s 39, which stayed in line with its past month with a 14e defeat in 18 games.

TOPS/FLOPS

The Young-Collins pair. The two team histories feasted between the tip of 16 assists from Trae Young marked by two blind passes and other brilliant inspirations, and the show delivered by John Collins, all in efficiency.

Jalen Johnson. The former Duke resident continued the momentum of his previous game against Chicago with a second game of 16 points, his NBA record, with still efficiency, but also spectacle and rebounding combat (8 catches ).

Jaden Ivey. He too was a model of aggressiveness and efficiency, both from afar and on his incessant penetrations. To be ranked among the best performances of his season.

Daniel Gaford. Perhaps the only satisfaction of the evening on the Wizards side with his career-high 25 points to accompany his 10 rebounds.

The Wizards’ 3-point address. Jay Huff and Kendrick didn’t delude themselves for long and Washington notably let go because of his clumsiness at 3-pointers, special mentions for Quenton Jackson and Jordan Goodwin at 0/3 while Kendrick Nunn finished at 1/6.
