If the Lakers were recently treated to their series, “Winning Time”, retracing the epic of Magic Johnson and his Showtime teammates in the 1980s, the other Los Angeles team, the Clippers, will also have their TV series . On a completely different subject, much less sporty!
Taken from a collection of podcasts produced by ESPN, “Clipped” is a six-episode mini-series broadcast on Hulu starting June 4. No “Lob City” at the heart of this series, but a look back at the Donald Sterling scandal, the former owner of the franchise who had made racist comments, recorded without his knowledge by one of his mistresses, V. Stiviano. A scandal which led the NBA to ban him for life, effectively withdrawing his franchise, and to order him to pay a $2.5 million fine.
To play Sterling, the production has chosen Ed O'Neill (known for the hit series “Married with Two Children” and “Modern Family”), while Cleopatra Coleman will play the role of his mistress.
The series begins with the arrival of Doc Rivers, played by Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus in “Matrix” in particular) and his chaotic journey at the head of the Californian franchise because of this particularly disturbing owner.
