The Fever fires its coach!

The NBA is a business, and so is the WNBA! Christie Sides can confirm this since the Fever coach learned this Sunday that she was dismissed from her duties. However, under his leadership, the Indiana franchise had taken eight years of drought to return to the playoffs with a balanced record: 20 victories – 20 defeats. On the field, Sides could rely on the last two Rookie Of The Year, Aaliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, but management therefore decided that she was no longer the right woman to reach the top.

“We are incredibly grateful to Coach Sides for taking on the challenge of leading us through a complete period of transition over the past two seasons, while positioning us well for the future.”, writes President Kelly Krauskopf. “While such decisions are never easy to make, it is imperative that we remain bold and determined in pursuit of our goals, which include maximizing our talent and returning one more WNBA title to the Indiana. Coach Sides was an incredible representative of the Fever and our community, and we wish her nothing but success in the future. »

To succeed him, a name is circulating, that of Stephanie White, the coach of the Connecticut Sun, winner of the Fever in the first round of the playoffs. White has the distinction of having played four years at the Fever, and having coached the team for two years in 2015 and 2016. It was under his leadership that the franchise reached the Finals in 2015. It will be complicated to snatch White as she posted a record of 55 wins and 25 losses in two years in Connecticut.
