The trade deadline was eventful for the French women in the WNBA. While Gabby Williams is back across the Atlantic with the Seattle Storm, on the other hand, Olivia Epoupa transferred from Lynx to Mystics before finally getting cut.
The Frenchwoman was traded with teammate Sika Kone and a 2026 second-round draft pick for Myisha Hines-Allen, whose arrival confirms the Lynx's big ambitions, currently 3rd in the championship. Epoupa is not the only player cut by the Mystics, since guard/winger DiDi Richards also saw her contract end Tuesday night.
Epoupa leaves with a title
A 30-year-old “rookie”, Olivia Epoupa was having her first experience in the WNBA after joining the Lynx last March. The point guard ultimately played very little, averaging just 7 minutes of play in her 16 appearances, accumulating 0.9 points, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals per game.
Nevertheless, Epoupa will have won the Commissioner's Cup with Minnesota, even if she had not participated in the final against Breanna Stewart's New York Liberty.
