The Dominican Republic brings down the deluge on Italy
August 27, 2023
After beating the Philippines in the opening, the Dominican Republic takes the lead of its group alone, to climb to the next phase, winning this time (87-82) against Italy.
However, it was the Squadra azzurra who had the best start thanks to a 12-0 carried by Achille Polonara.
Except that the coach Gianmarco Pozzecco was already very nervous on his bench, and he will end up being sent off before half-time, while the clumsiness of his players became embarrassing.
Especially that opposite, Andres Feliz caught fire behind the 3-point line with in the end 24 points at 7/10 from afar, plus 5 rebounds and 5 assists, to help Karl-Anthony Towns (24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists).
Symbol of Italian address concerns, Simone Fontecchio finished at 4/15 in shooting, including 1/8 from afar…
In the end, the Dominican Republic completes the game at 16/39 from 3-pointers, against 7/28 for Italy.
