The day the Grizzlies beat the Thunder by 73 points!!!

It is the largest victory in NBA history, and therefore the largest defeat… On December 2, 2021, the Grizzlies won 152-79 against the Thunder, and never had there been such a gap between two teams: 73 points! Despite being deprived of Ja Morant, Memphis thus erased the record of the Cavaliers, who had won by 68 points against the Heat in 1991.

At halftime, the Grizzlies already led by 36 points, and the gap will increase to +78! A one-sided match from start to finish with the Grizzlies who obviously rotated their squad widely to finish with nine players at 10 points or more.

COACHES’ REACTIONS

Mark Daigneault : “ Tonight's match doesn't necessarily show what we are. I think we proved it from a competitiveness point of view. This defeat is not significant. Obviously it's a combination of several things. They put on a lot of pace and power. They fired shots. We didn't shoot well from the start, and we weren't able to hang on. In any sector of the game. »

Taylor Jenkins : “ Franchise records are obviously great. But I'm obviously proud of my players because they didn't have them in mind. We were just motivated by applying our standards of play every night. Tonight was a complete demonstration of both offense and defense.. »

This NBA record was obviously not the only one of the evening. For the Grizzlies, there are already three franchise records: this gap of 73 points but also 152 points scored, and a shooting skill of 62.5%.

Memphis finished the game with 41 assists and only 10 loose balls, and a total of 82 points in the paint. Never has a team reached such a total since 2000. Memphis' previous records were 144 points scored in 2007 against the Warriors, and a 49-point victory against the Rockets last February.
