The Connecticut Sun rocked Boston's TD Garden!

“It was great. It should be like this every night.” With her two sentences, DiJonai Carrington sums up well the thoughts of the Connecticut Sun players after this meeting against the Los Angeles Sparks. A special match, played in front of a sold-out crowd, at the TD Garden in Boston.

DiJonai Carrington and her teammates won the game (69-61). And like in the NBA, when Los Angeles travels to Boston, “Beat LA” was heard in the stands, from the 19,125 spectators.

Among the spectators, two NBA champions and Olympic champions attended this meeting: Jrue Holiday and Jayson Tatum. “People didn't arrive at half-time, they were there two hours before the start of the match. I hope it wasn't the last time we play a match here, especially for us”, announcement DiJonai Carrington.

An unforgettable match

Even if the 2024 season is exceptional with the phenomenon Caitlin Clark, we only have to look at the numbers from last season to measure the difference between an experience like Tuesday's and the daily life of a WNBA team. During the 2023 season, the average number of spectators per game was only 6,615. There, let's remember, there were more than 19,000 spectators! “The crowd was crazy. They sang the whole game, gave us energy.”Carrington continues.

“I'm very grateful. Our team and the players deserve this. They had a chance to have this experience. We've had this before, away, but not at home, with over 19,000 people. It was so nice,” comments Sun coach Stephanie White. “It's a moment I'll never forget. I hope the players won't forget it either.”
