Lakers, Warriors and now Clippers. These will be the franchises which will pay homage to Jerry West throughout this season. Which is not surprising, when we know that the legendary “Logo”, who died last June, did enormously for the three clubs during his lifetime.
In this case, according to ESPNthe Clippers will take advantage of the inauguration of their brand new Intuit Dome, this Wednesday against the Suns, to unveil a patch featuring the initials “JW” on their floor, as well as a commemorative seat located where the now triple Hall of Famer used to sit in at home games of Los Angeles (behind the basket, near their bench). Without forgetting the broadcast of a special video on the sidelines of this opening match of the regular season.
Close to Steve Ballmer, owner of the Clippers, Jerry West held the role of special advisor to the California franchise for seven years. Enough to help the club form the Kawhi Leonard – Paul George tandem, without however managing to extricate itself from the shadow of its cumbersome neighbors… nor to win the title.
