Champions after beating the Mavericks last June, the Celtics play in Washington this Friday and they have two days off beforehand. The perfect time to go to the White House, and organize the traditional visit to the President of the United States by the NBA champions.
And according to the office of Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, who should attend the eventthe visit to Joe Biden will take place this Thursday.
This is perhaps the last visit for a long time since the Warriors and the Raptors had refused to go to the White House, after their titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019 (the Covid crisis not having allowed it in any case visit in 2020), during Donald Trump's first term. And as the latter, who will resume his duties at the end of January, does not like NBA players (and vice versa) the hiatus could logically resume.
Especially since the visit to the White House is no longer seen as an essential moment by NBA players. Last year, the Nuggets had also skipped it, the Biden administration having postponed the first date, before proposing an impractical second one, in the middle of a series of away matches.
