The Cavaliers don't have much to complain about

Almost everywhere, there is no shortage of injured people in these playoffs, but the Cavaliers are competing with the Knicks for the trophy of the unluckiest team. Already deprived of Jarrett Allen since the middle of the series against the Magic, Evan Mobley's teammates played Game 5 in Boston without their pivot, nor Donovan Mitchell and Caris Levert. Despite all the good will in the world, it was impossible to pass the Boston obstacle.

“Cleveland, it’s heartbreaking, but I’m proud of this team’s fight and progress”wrote owner Dan Gilbert on social media. “Thank you to all Cavs fans and everyone who supported us throughout the season. The future is bright in Cleveland! »

While his future is uncertain, JB Bickerstaff can only congratulate his players. “They gave everything they had. They responded. They gave everything. We just got beat by a team that played really well. Their players raised their level of play, they made huge plays, and they made important shots. But our guys did an incredible job! “.

In progress

The encouragement from the boss and the coach does not take away this taste of unfinished business. Max Strus is frustrated that it ended like this, without being able to fight on equal terms.

” I'm disappointed. I think this team is capable of a lot more, especially with the talent we have in this locker room,” believes the former Miami player. “I still think we had the means to do it. We were just a little short. We fought with what we had. All in all, we could have achieved it, but we can't think like that… We did it with our means, and we have to accept it.”

On arrival, the Cavaliers still did better than last season, with an almost unchanged squad. The question is whether this squad will be able to continue this progression next season.

“I think we continue to build this project as it should,” replies JB Bickerstaffwhose future is uncertain. “Every year, we improve: play-ins, playoffs, conference semi-finals… The players have improved, and some have had a great season. It’s definitely a place I want to be.”
