The Bucks resist the Heat’s desperate comeback

Defeated by the Hawks for their second outing of the year, with a very small match from Damian Lillard, the Bucks had a third game in a row at home, with the reception of the Heat, before taking off towards Toronto.

Facing the franchise he wanted to join, the former Portland “franchise player” (25 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) found color to help Milwaukee return to victory (122-114), well helped by a Giannis Antetokounmpo (33 points, 7 rebounds) already in MVP mode.

Opposite, Tyler Herro (35 points, 8 rebounds) may have lit the fuse, but the Heat remained at the dock. Like Jimmy Butler (13 points on 4/11 on shots), Miami was rather extinguished, pushed back 25 lengths in the third quarter before launching an improbable “comeback” through its bench, including 15 points for Duncan Robinson.

Deprived of Bam Adebayo (touched in the hip) in the paint, Miami suffered, and therefore got off to a difficult start to its season with a third consecutive loss, in four games.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The Bucks were (a little) scared. Having gone from +10 at halftime on a 3-pointer at the buzzer from Jae Crowder to +25 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Bucks saw their lead melt away like snow in the sun in the last period, largely won by the visitors from evening (41-25). Before Giannis and Lillard finally close the door on Erik Spoelstra and company at the end of the match… “When we have the possibility of putting them out of reach, we must do so, because they will continue to cling”concluded the “Greek Freak”.

Damian Lillard downplays tension. After a summer trying to join the Heat, Damian Lillard did not seem more disturbed than that when facing Miami. He regained his lost address against Atlanta but he also minimized the impact of this match: “I don’t think there was any additional energy on this issue from either side. »

TOPS/FLOPS

Giannis Antetokounmpo. Disguised as the Hulk for his post-match press conference, the Greek superstar was indeed unstoppable for the Heat defense. With 33 points, including 12 in the last quarter to avoid the Heat’s comeback, he simply continues to gain momentum after two games at 23 then 26 points.

Tyler Herro. Top scorer of the match at 35 units, Tyler Herro was the only starter left on the field in the fourth quarter to try to come back to the score. At 12/21 on shots and 9/10 on throws, the Miami sniper was the only one to survive against a Heat who struggled to get going.

Jimmy Butler. Left to rest during the defeat against Minnesota, Jimmy Butler had all the difficulty in the world to restart the machine for his return to his university lands in Wisconsin. He finished with 13 small points at 4/11 on shots without having weighed on the match.

Khris Middleton. Used very sparingly at the start of the season, after a campaign weighed down by injuries, he took to the boards for the second time this season, and always for very short periods. He finished with 5 points and 5 assists. While waiting for (much) better during the season…
