The boss of the Suns severely sanctioned by the NBA

After eleven months of investigation, the NBA has delivered its verdict on the accusations of racism and sexism which target Robert Sarverthe owner of the Suns and Mercury (WNBA).

The league got a heavy hand with a one-year suspension from any activity or presence related to its franchises, and a $10 million fine! A sum that will be donated to organizations and associations that fight against discrimination related to skin color and gender in and outside the workplace.

Robert Sarver engaged in conduct that clearly violated common standards in a workplace, as defined by franchise and league rules. This includes the use of insensitive racist language, unequal treatment of employees, sexual comments and attitudes, and harsh behavior towards employees that sometimes amounted to harassment. reads the NBA report.

Conducted by an independent body, the investigations were based on the testimonies of 320 people, and the evaluation of 80,000 documents such as emails, SMS and videos.

“The statements and conduct described in the findings of the independent investigation are troubling and disappointing”reacted Adam Silver. “We believe the outcome is the right one, given all of the facts, circumstances and context brought to light by the comprehensive investigation over this 18-year period and our commitment to upholding the appropriate standards on NBA workplaces.
