The French under-21 teams will have enjoyed the whole summer with a fine harvest at the finish, especially among the girls with the victory of the Euro U20, silver at the Euro U18, a fine 4th place at the U19 world championship, the bronze for the World U17 and therefore this victory of the U16 at the Euro by beating Spain in the final.
The meeting will have been indecisive but the Bleuettes held on until this 3-pointer in the corner of Kiara Leno at the very end of the game to draw a precious success 67-63 at the arrival. Two players also did well in this final with 15 points each, Lilyana Fontcha and Aïnhoa Risacher, who wore number 10, like her father more than 20 years ago.
Ainhoa Risacher, MVP!
Alongside them, we will also remember the performance of Emma Broliron, 14, in particular for her great composure in the “money-time” since it was she who found Kiara Leno unmarked at 3-points and who then scored two crucial shots to take France to +4. Author of 9 points and 7 assists, she had already distinguished herself by slamming 17 points against Poland in the quarter-finals.
Aïnhoa Risacher was elected MVP of the tournament with 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2 steals on average in the competition. She is also in the top five of the competition.
