On Monday, Damian Lillard and his agent Aaron Goodwin met with Blazers management to take stock of the franchise’s plans and the future of the All-Star point guard, whose name is circulating on the Miami side. What came of it? The answer with the brief press release published by Joe Cronin, the GM of Portland.
“I met Dame and Aaron Goodwin this afternoon. We had an excellent dialogue. We remain committed to building a winning team around Dame.”
For “building a winning team”, the Blazers will be active in the transfer market, and the priority will first be to extend Jerami Grant, a close friend of Lillard, who arrived a year ago from Detroit. Then, it will be necessary to position itself on free agents with a meager envelope, and no doubt that the management will try, again, to transfer Anfernee Simons. The young fullback finds himself in competition with Scoot Henderson for the position of second back, and his rating could allow him to recover a good player or two.
Without forgetting that it will also be necessary to take care of the cases of Matisse Thybulle, Cam Reddish, Drew Eubanks and Justise Winslow, all free this summer.
