The Basketball Africa League announces its fourth season

As announced in November, the Basketball Africa League (BAL) is growing again with a fourth host country: South Africa. In a press release, the BAL specifies that this is where its fourth season will start. It will all start on March 9 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria.

“South Africa has always been a priority country for the development of the NBA in Africa”explained the president of the league, Amadou Gallo Fall. “This is obviously where the NBA Africa headquarters is located. There has been a lot of work over the years and the BAL is the culmination of several decades of work by the NBA, which ultimately partnered with FIBA. »

The rest will be 48 matches played by twelve teams in Egypt (Cairo), Senegal (Dakar) and Rwanda (Kigali). Teams and match schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.

However, the group stages of the three conferences will be held in several sequences: from March 9 to 17 in Pretoria, from April 19 to 27 in Cairo and from May 4 to 12 in Dakar. The playoffs will then take place in Kigali, from May 24 to June 1. As a reminder, last season, Al Ahly, an Egyptian club, won the competition.
