This Thursday, and until Sunday, Las Vegas and the University of Nevada welcome Team USA training campthe first step in the preparation of the American selection for the World Cup in three weeks.
As a reminder, here is the squad composed to repair the affront of 2019 (seventh place after a loss in the quarter-finals against France): Paolo Banchero, Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram , Jaren Jackson Jr., Cam Johnson, Walker Kessler, Bobby Portis and Austin Reaves.
This group of twelve players will be led by Steve Kerr, who will be assisted by Tyronn Lue and Erik Spoelstra as well as Mark Few, from Gonzaga University.
A gathering of 25 players
To support Team USA, and as before every major competition, a Select Team, coached by Jamahl Mosley, has been set up with young NBA players: Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Chet Holmgren, Keegan Murray, Jalen Williams, Quentin Grimes, Trey Murphy III, Naz Reid, Payton Pritchard, Herb Jones and Jalen Duren. But also three G-League players: Langston Galloway, John Jenkins and Eric Mika.
The Americans will begin the preparation matches Monday evening against Puerto Rico, in Las Vegas. Then, on August 12 and 13, they will face Slovenia and Spain in Malaga, as part of the 100 years of the Spanish federation. To finish with two last meetings on August 18 against Greece, then two days later against Germany, in Abu Dhabi.
