By coming off the bench during the tiff between the Pelicans and Heat players and exchanging blows with Jose Alvarado at the edge of the field, Thomas Bryant was suspended for three matches, without pay. He has already served two, against the Kings and the Blazers, and the last one is scheduled for this Thursday evening in Denver.
In theory, as he is suspended, the pivot should not have the right to be in the Nuggets room. But the NBA decided to make an exception, indicates ESPN. Why ? To recover his championship ring, won with Denver against Miami in June 2023.
Usually, crowned players who changed teams during the offseason actually get their ring back when they travel to the reigning champion. As the Heat only make one trip to Colorado per season, it was night or never for the pivot. And so the league was magnanimous.
Thomas Bryant will thus be able to receive his champion ring during a ceremony organized before the meeting. Then, once the jewel is in his hands, he will have to leave the Ball Arena.
