Two days before the start of the 2022/23 season, the Jazz have put the final touches on their squad, to reach the limit of 15 players for the season: Jared Butler, Stanley Johnson and Cody Zeller thus do not pass the “cut” of the “training camp”.
If the fate of the two veterans is not particularly surprising, that of Jared Butler is more so.
Chosen in 40th position in the 2021 Draft by the Pelicans then sent in stride to Utah, the NCAA champion point guard with Baylor in 2021 signed a discreet rookie season, but could hope this season to gain momentum in the rotation of this Jazz squad in total reconstruction. Especially since the position of leader, with the exception of course Mike Conley, was vacant.
While the squad is mostly complete, Jared Butler and his now former teammates will certainly have to opt for a “two-way contract”, if they want to keep a chance of starting the season in a “roster”…
