Summer leagues: Bronny James misses his first

History will record that it was at the Chase Center, the home of the Warriors, that Bronny James played his first game in Lakers colors. It was against the Kings, and the Lakers' number 9 did not shine: 4 points on 2 of 9 shooting, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 22 minutes. A starter, LeBron James' son did not prevent the Lakers from losing 108-94 against Yves Pons' teammates. Wearing number 37 for the Lakers, Armel Traoré accumulates 4 points and 3 rebounds in 13 minutes.

“Every first match I play at a higher level, I always have a knot in my stomach”Bronny responded. “But as soon as the ball is in play and we go back and forth two times, all that goes away and I'm just playing basketball. That's always going to be the case, and I'll get through it.”

What does he remember from this first? ” The atmosphere “ he answers. “There were more than expected. It was a big game for me, but I didn't know if the Golden State people were going to come. It was really cool to see.”

Next game against the Warriors

For the record, 21 years ago, his dad started in the summer league with Orlando, accumulating 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. But it's impossible to compare the Chosen One, chosen in 1st place in the 2003 Draft, and his son selected in 55th position by his father's franchise…

“It doesn't matter what he does in the California Classic and the Summer League in Las Vegas, whether he plays well or not,” LeBron reacted. “I just want him to continue to improve through practice, video sessions and individual workouts. You can’t take any stat from the California Classic and the Las Vegas summer league and apply it to the beginning of the season. The only thing that matters is that he improves and gains experience.”

This Sunday, the Lakers face the Warriors, and it looks like Bronny will be in the lineup again. “If he feels good, he will play the whole competition” warns his coach. “We're going to try to integrate him and give him as much playing time as possible. Because he needs more experience. And to evolve in the NBA game. It's a little different than college, and you have to get into NBA habits, in an NBA environment with good players and that will help him in the long run.”
