Summer League MVP Cam Whitmore eyes Rookie of the Year

Will Cam Whitmore be the “stealer” of the 2023 vintage? Falling to 20th place when he could hope to be selected in the Top 5, the Villanova winger had visibly worried the franchises, his injury history, his disappointing workouts and very average interviews having caused his rating to drop in the last straight line.

He began to erase doubts in the Summer League, winning the Las Vegas Summer League MVP trophy by averaging 19.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Rockets, at 45% success rate including 29% of far.

It was his ability to attack the circle that marked the spirits, while this first trophy gives him the appetite…

“I would say one of my individual goals is to win Rookie of the Year”he bluntly declared to Malika Andrews, on the set of ESPN.

“I really have this goal in mind and I can be part of the race. I don’t just have the skills, I also have the overall confidence. Right now, I have the biggest skill set in the Draft and I think I’m a different type of athlete, an explosive athlete that nobody in the Draft has encountered before.”
