Summer League | It will be Cleveland-Houston in the final

The Summer League semi-finals delivered their verdict on Sunday in Las Vegas. In the middle of the afternoon (10 p.m. French time), Cleveland had to resort to an extension to win against the Nets with a boiling Armoni Brooks in the final (102-99). Led by the Whitmore-Hinton duo, the Rockets then did the job against Utah to join the Cavs in the final.

After a balanced first half, Cleveland took the upper hand going 10-0 to end the third act, relying twice on Pete Nance, Mike Bothwell and Sam Merrill (72-63). The latter added two 3-point missiles (79-70) before passing the baton to Isaiah Mobley to contain a first hot shot from Armoni Brooks (87-82). Cleveland was able to hang on to the end with a 3+1 from Matt Lewis and a huge 3-pointer from Armoni Brooks in response to Emoni Bates to force overtime (94-94).

Armoni Brooks once again kept his people alive with a new 3-pointer, again on the head of Sam Merrill (100-99). But on a final basket from Isaiah Mobley, Cleveland was finally the first team to score 7 points, as required by the regulations, to win 102-99 and thus reach the final.

Cam Whitemore confirms

The other semi-final of this summer league was less indecisive since even without Jabari Smith Jr, nor Tari Eason, now at rest, Houston was serene from start to finish against Utah to win 115-101.

The Rockets took the best in the second quarter with an 11-3 concluded by a Cam Whitmore in great shape (42-33). Nate Hinton then distinguished himself at the finish and the pass for Trevor Hudgins’ 3-pointer to secure a 12-point lead at the break (49-37). Even if the Ongenda-Justice pair made the show, Utah no longer managed to worry Houston after the break. In the final, Jermaine Samuels was able to support Cam Whitmore to ensure victory and allow the Texans to access the final which will be played tonight (03:00 French time), against Cleveland.
