Still without Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, Dallas is no match for Memphis

Without Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving or Ja Morant, this duel (broadcast on national television) between dallas And Memphis immediately lost its luster. Nevertheless, there was a game to play and to win for these two teams, under pressure in the standings and who therefore had every interest in not missing each other.

Finally, and quite logically, these are the Grizzlies who leave Texas with the victory, facing very sad and weak Maverickscertainly led by jade hardy (28 points, 8 rebounds) and Josh Green (23 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds).

I have to say that Desmond Bane (23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists), Dillon Brooks (19 points, 5 assists) and David Roddy (19 points, 5 rebounds) did the job for the Tennessee franchise, serious so as not to miss an easy meeting.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

Memphis sped up after the break. After a balanced first half, the Grizzlies started the second after returning from the locker room: 36-21! Carried by Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane, authors of 20 points to two, but also well helped by the breakdown of address of Mavericks in lack of offensive solutions, the men of Taylor Jenkins have quietly seen their lead climb. To the point of offering themselves, thanks to their collective rise in power, an easy last act where they only had to manage their gap of about fifteen points.

Dallas in danger. Without Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving or Christian Wood, the Mavericks had reason to be worried that night and, despite all the efforts of Josh Green and rookie Jaden Hardy, they logically cracked over the course of the game, given the weakness of their group. Therefore, today, Jason Kidd’s men have gone back into the negative and they have especially the Lakers (but also the Jazz and the Pelicans) on their heels, who are pushing behind them more than ever. Beware of disillusionment and an exit from the Top 10, in this end of the season with a knife…

TOPS/FLOPS

David Roddy. Without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane struggled to lead the way in Memphis, but it’s hard not to note Roddy’s (new) valuable and decisive performance off the bench. In line with his 24-point match on Saturday night (against… Dallas), the rookie did it again last night. Without hesitation, he draws as soon as he has the opportunity and he also does damage on the counter-attack, where his muscular physique allows him to easily make his way to the circle. Here is one who takes full advantage of the absences in the rotation of the Grizzlies …

Josh Green. Jaden Hardy may have finished top scorer for the Mavericks, but he also had a lot of water (9/25, including 5/15 from 3-pointers) once he scored his quick 16 points in the first quarter. Hence the fact that we prefer to retain the performance of Josh Green, interesting in his role as the main attacker / creator of Dallas, despite the waste that this can generate when it is not natural (or his problems with faults ). Undoubtedly the most regular player of the Mavs this night and the one who made the rain and the good weather of the Texans, between his scoring and his passes.

Jaren Jackson Jr.. Sad evening for the interior All-Star (7 points, 6 rebounds), which could not be highlighted if only for a few seconds. As (too) often quickly embarrassed by his faults, “JJJ” thus spent most of his time glued to the bench, when the score was still tight. He then did not need to be violent to save Memphis, leaving Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks and David Roddy to ensure at this level. Match to forget therefore, but victory is in your pocket.

Tim Hardaway Jr.. Called to occupy the role of exceptional leader of the Mavericks when Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving (even Christian Wood) are not there, the back did not however do the necessary this night: 5 points in 28 minutes, only 2 / 10 to shoot, including 1/6 from 3-pointers… Clearly not the kind of performance that we could expect and hope for from “THJ”. To say that Jaden Hardy and Josh Green did the job offensively…
