It's been months since the Serbia explains hoping to count on Nikola Jokic for the Olympic Games of Paris 2024. Since the elimination of the Nuggets against the Wolves last month, the vagueness remains regarding his participation in the Olympics but, this Monday, the coach Svetislav Pesic still included him in his pre-selection of 16 players who will prepare for the competition.
In addition to the “Joker” from Denver, who has not worn the Serbian jersey since Eurobasket 2022, we also find Vasilije Micic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nikola Jovic, Aleksej Pokusevksi or Philip Petrusevall present or past in the NBA this season.
The President of Serbia got involved!
In full reflection, Nikola Jokic should therefore announce his decision fairly quickly, which is particularly awaited in the country. So, last week, it was actually… the president of Serbia (!) who asked, on the radiothat the triple MVP is traveling to France for the 2024 Olympics.
“ I don't know if he'll be on the team. I love and respect him and his family very much, and it is my request that he responds to the call of coach Svetislav Pesic. It will be very difficult with the Canadians and Americans, but if anyone can beat them, it's Serbia » explained Aleksandar Vucic.
As a reminder, Serbia will be in Pool C alongside Team USA, South Sudan and the winner of the TQO in Puerto Rico. Before that, the world vice-champions will notably face France in Lyon, for the retirement of Tony Parker's jersey.
