Still no Kristaps Porzingis on the horizon

On paper, the Celtics had reason to be worried about challenging the Cavaliers after losing Kristaps Porzingis injured during the first round against Miami. Cleveland indeed has one of the most deterrent rackets in the NBA, even if its striking force is currently limited by the absence of Jarrett Allen, injured in the ribs.

A lesser evil therefore for Boston, better record of the regular season, even if we will still have to deal without Kristaps Porzingis for (at least) one more match. If he has returned to training, the Latvian interior remains package for Game 4 this evening, still because of his contracture in the soleus muscle of the right calf, this muscle located above the Achilles tendon.

The absence of Kristaps Porzingis was expected, but apprehension now concerns one of his replacements, Luke Kornet, who now accompanies him on the list of injured players communicated by the C's.

The replacement position 5 is also affected in his right calf, an injury which has already forced him to miss a few matches against Miami in the previous round. For the moment, his participation in Game 4 would not be called into question, but his status is considered “probable”. If Luke Kornet were to be absent, Joe Mazzulla could then bring Xavier Tillman back to support Al Horford.

For their part, the Cavaliers reported the “uncertain” presence of Donovan Mitchell, also injured in the calf. But it's hard to imagine him missing this 4th round, especially since Jarrett Allen could miss his 6th game in a row.
