Still no agreement between JJ Redick and the Lakers

Since Dan Hurley's surprise refusal, JJ Redick has become the big favorite to become coach of the Lakers, and on Monday, an “insider” announced that it was done. The NBA Finals over, the former Magic and Clippers shooter is freed from his obligations with ESPN and ABC, and he can therefore land at the Lakers where he will take over from Darvin Ham, fired at the end of April.

Except that Shams Charania was quick to deny it. “As far as I know, there is no agreement between the Lakers and JJ Redick at this time,” he declared in the Pat McAfee Show. “JJ Redick went to Los Angeles on Saturday and had face-to-face interviews for several hours with Lakers executives…I was told he was very impressive during those interviews. (…) His status as favorite to become coach of the Lakers has not changed. (…) Now that JJ Redick is done with his Finals obligations, they want to sign their coach before the Draft. »

The other track leads to James Borrego, himself on the Cavaliers' shelves. Curiously, Cleveland leaders have still not announced the name of JB Bickerstaff's successor. Proof, undoubtedly, that it depends on the choice of the Lakers.
